Ingredients
1 cup green gram soaeked for 3-4 hrs.
1 ½ cup rice
Pinch of turmeric powder
1 tbsp ghee
4-5 cashew
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp jeera powder
½ tsp pepper powder
5 cups water
salt to taste
seasoning
1 tbsp. Ghee
2 tsp. Mustard
1 tsp urad dal
2 green chillies slit length wise
Asafoetida a pinch
Kharipatta 2-3 leaves.
Method
Wash the soaked moong and rice cook add 5 cups of water, and the other ingredients except salt and pepper. Cook till soft.
When the mixture is cooked add in salt and pepper
In a wok heat 1 tbsp of ghee, add mustard
When the mustard spurts add in urad, slit chillies, asafoetida and kharipatta pour over the cooked mixture.
Optional dress the dish up with scraped coconut and chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with pickle, papad, and curd.
