Handling left over rice is over an issue. If the rice is not sticky then, chitranna, pulao, puliyogare are all good options.
For sticky near paste like rice the standard curd rice is an easy way out. There are times when I have added onions and coriander leaves and made akki roti out of it, which I will share somewhere down the line. But one of my favorites is the akki roti of the coorgi’s that comes out like chapati’s.
This time I decided to go a step further and make puri’s out of it. Sharing the recipe this makes about 6 puri’s.

½ cup left over rice.
2/3 cup rice flour.
2 tbsps. Finely chopped coriander leaves.
1 green chillie finely chopped.
Salt to taste.
Oil to deep fry.
- Mix the ingredients to a pliable dough. I use the chapati dough kneader.
- Divide it into 6 portions keep aside for 10mnts.
- Heat the oil, and deep fry the puri’s.

Serve it hot with any curry. I usually use kadale ghassi.
Looks delicious.
